Yea if you're just going to evaluate unRaid after buying the hardwre, just use their free license. You'll want to use something KIVM based like Proxmox - but it's not as easy to use as unRaid. So you can create a Windows 10 VM if you want, but how do you use it? So if i'm to go for it that i should check out FreeNAS but i thought it was only for Managing NASįreeNAS is not going to let you share devices like unRaid. With that said, it's still on the drawing board so we'll see. With Epyc i know i will have enough lanes for the immediate and longer term future, Only reason im even considering Threadripper is because of the higher clocks. On the high end Laptop idea, nah, i ceased this as an opportunity to dive into something new and still useful. Sure i can fit a licence in the budget, but as you mentioned, don't want to spend money on something that's relatively new, and if there is a free-cut down version that'll make it easier for a non experienced, that i believe you'd agree, that's what i should be going for I thout FreeNAS was only for setting up NAS Machines in witch case it wont work for me. I know, sure i can fit a licence in the budget, just that i wanted to go basic first since i'm not that familiar with it, never the less i'm very interested and want to try it my self.
